What does the Default Page Order do?
Note: It is only possible to modify the Default Page Order on the Windows Hosting Subscriptions.
When you enter a URL into a Browser it makes a request to the Webserver for a file to display. If no filename name is entered, for example http://example.com, the Webserver still needs to return a page. To determine which page to return to the Browser the Webserver relies upon the Default Page Order.

The default order is as follows:

1.    Default.htm
2.    Default.asp
3.    Index.htm
4.    Index.html
5.    Default.aspx

If you have two files in your Root Directory, one at http://example.com/Default.htm and another at http://example.com/index.html when a Browser requests http://example.com the Default.htm page will be returned as it is higher in the Default Page Order.
